Smoke, brass, and a question the room keeps trying not to ask.
Late-night jazz · neo-swing · soul — with a gospel heart and no sermon.
Featuring the Ecobyte Collective.
Midnight & Mercy
A late-night record. Smoke, brass, a piano nobody’s tuned since the war — and underneath all of it, a question the room keeps trying not to ask.
Zoe sings low and a little behind the beat, the way you talk when the lights are down and there’s no point performing any more. The band swings hard when it wants to. Then it sits down. The spiritual weight is there, but it’s carried the way a torch song carries heartbreak: in the phrasing, not the sermon.

Who is Zoe Vesper?
She sings like the room is almost empty and she doesn’t mind. Smoky low contralto, raspy and imperfect, close to the mic, always a half-step behind the beat — more interested in the phrasing than in proving she can hit the note.
The music moves where it wants to: speakeasy swing one song, Rhodes-and-brushes blues the next, Cuban groove, then something with an 808 under it. The genre travels. The personality doesn’t.
The songs start somewhere human — a weakness, a contradiction, a bad night, a joke that stops being funny — and the spiritual point arrives late, once you’ve already enjoyed yourself. That’s deliberate. This is faith-shaped music that would rather be a good song first.
Behind her: the Ecobyte Collective, a robot band in zoot suits with warm amber eyes and an upright bass. And occasionally underfoot, Zoey — a small black-and-tan chiweenie who is entirely real and takes no direction whatsoever.
